About
My name is Claudia. I was born and raised in Fort Lauderdale. I grew up by the ocean, spending most of my free time fishing, diving, and enjoying the outdoors with my family. Any time spent indoors mostly involved watching movies or cooking with my grandmothers and cousins.
I ventured outside of Florida for college, graduating with a double major in Sociology and Management & Society from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. During my four years, I took an interest in social causes and focused my volunteering on criminal justice issues (you can read more about that here). I also did a lot of hiking, climbing, reading, and drawing.
Following graduation, I became invested in storytelling and began to explore marketing as a potential career. I explored these interests in two ways. The first was through a content development course by Experience Lab at UC Berkeley. The second was by marketing and writing content for Aglo, a retail intelligence startup in Australia that uses crowd-sourced data and AI to help brands improve their in-store execution.
When I returned to the United States from my internship at Aglo, I started interviewing for marketing jobs. That’s when March 2020 happened and everything came to a screeching halt. For months I stayed home and just tried to get through the COVID-19 pandemic, like everyone else.
At some point, I realized I didn’t have to wait for things to be “normal” again in order to do something productive with my time. In fact, there was even more work to be done than before. I sought out causes I cared about and offered my services remotely.
During the first half of 2021, I focused my energy on nonprofit internships and volunteering. The organizations I worked for include Koenig Childhood Cancer Foundation, Darfur Women Action Group, Factor-H, and Take Back the Night Foundation.
I am currently the Marketing Coordinator for One Day University, an entertainment company in New York that was recently acquired by CuriosityStream. This fall, I will be starting my full-time MBA at NYU Stern School of Business. I am expected to graduate in May 2023!
